How to WIN the Warfare in your MIND!

Mastering Your Mind: Four Steps to Overcome Limiting Beliefs

Welcome to my blog! Today, we're diving into something that's close to my heart: the battle we face in our minds. You see, while we have thoughts, it's crucial to understand that we are not our thoughts. Instead, we are spiritual beings with a soul. Our thoughts may come and go, but we must not let them control us. Let’s explore how to tackle the mental warfare we encounter daily, especially as working moms and women striving to fulfill our purpose.

The Battlefield of the Mind

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by your thoughts, you're not alone. The mind can be a battleground, filled with limiting beliefs and negative self-talk. Recently, I faced a tough week where my thoughts were trying to bring me down. It was then that I turned to a powerful four-step framework that transformed my mindset. I want to share this framework with you, especially if you’re going through a similar struggle.

A Call to Serve

My name is Janelle Renee, your certified faith-based mindset coach, or as I like to say, your faithologist. I’m on a mission to help working moms who, like me, may feel lost in the chaos of balancing careers and family. When I was in the thick of it, leaving my children for 13-hour workdays, I felt devastated. I realized I needed to help others who were also seeking fulfillment in their lives.

That’s why I’m dedicated to guiding women toward starting their businesses. My goal is to help them create multiple income streams, allowing them to transition from unfulfilling careers to a more fulfilling life. But even as I aim to serve, I found myself facing limiting beliefs that threatened to hold me back.

Step One: Awareness

The first step in overcoming limiting beliefs is awareness. You must acknowledge your thoughts without letting them define you. Recognize that while you have thoughts, you are not your thoughts. When I was struggling last week, I had to remind myself that I am a divine being with a purpose.

To achieve awareness, take a step back and analyze your thoughts. For example, I noticed I was thinking, “I can't create digital products that sell for 10k a week.” This thought made me feel inadequate, but I realized it was just a thought and not my reality. By recognizing this, I could begin to separate myself from that negative belief.

Understanding the Numbers

Did you know that on average, we have about 60,000 thoughts each day? That's about 42 thoughts per minute! Unfortunately, a staggering 80% of those thoughts are negative, and 95% are repetitive. This means we’re battling approximately 33 negative thoughts per minute. Understanding this can help you realize why it’s so essential to take control of your thoughts and manage them effectively.

Step Two: Analyze

Once you’ve gained awareness, it’s time to analyze those thoughts. Step back and assess why you’re feeling this way. Each thought is tied to an emotion, so you must separate the two to understand their impact on your life.

For me, recognizing that my limiting belief was rooted in comparison was eye-opening. I was looking at others on social media flaunting their “success,” which made me feel inadequate. It’s crucial to understand that comparison can rob you of your joy. The Bible warns us not to look to the left or the right, as it can lead to discouragement.

Detaching from Emotions

When analyzing your thoughts, detach yourself from the associated emotions. It’s easy to spiral into negativity, but we must be vigilant. By analyzing your feelings, you can identify which thoughts are true and which are lies. For instance, just because I hadn’t made 10k yet didn’t mean I couldn’t help others create digital products.

Remember, you don’t need to have every answer to serve others. You’re capable of helping others even if you’re still on your own journey. Focus on the truth and what God has called you to do.

Step Three: Annul the Thought

The third step in this process is to annul or denounce the negative thought. You must verbally declare that the thought is a lie and reject it in the name of Jesus. While you can’t control the initial negative thoughts that come to mind, you can control your response.

For example, when that limiting thought surfaced again, I said, “I take that thought captive. It’s a lie from the pits of hell.” I actively refused to let it control my actions or my purpose. Announcing this helps shift your mindset and reinforces your commitment to overcoming the negativity.

Empowering Yourself

When you annul a thought, you empower yourself. You’re taking charge of your mind instead of allowing your mind to control you. The enemy wants us to spiral down into doubt, but we can fight back by declaring our truth and focusing on our purpose.

Step Four: Activate God’s Thoughts

The final step is to activate God’s thoughts. This is where we turn to Scripture and affirmations rooted in the Word of God. The Bible tells us in Romans 12:2 that we should not conform to the patterns of this world but instead be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This means actively seeking God’s Word to fortify our thoughts.

The Power of Biblical Affirmations

One of the most effective ways to activate God’s thoughts is by speaking biblical affirmations. Instead of relying on generic affirmations, we need to incorporate God’s Word into our declarations. For instance, when doubt creeps in, I remind myself that “I can do all things through Christ” (Philippians 4:13). When anxiety tries to take hold, I repeat God’s promise to be anxious for nothing (Philippians 4:6).

Creating a list of your favorite Scriptures and turning them into affirmations can be life-changing. I encourage my clients to record themselves reading these affirmations and play them back daily. This repetition helps to reinforce God’s truth in your heart and mind.

Worship as a Weapon

Worship is another powerful tool in this process. By immersing yourself in worship, you create an atmosphere that pushes out negativity. You can’t worship God and dwell on negative thoughts at the same time. Incorporating worship into your daily routine will keep your mind focused on the truth of who God is.

Conclusion: Moving Forward with Faith

To recap, here are the four steps to master your mind and overcome limiting beliefs:

  1. Awareness: Recognize your thoughts without letting them define you.
  2. Analyze: Detach yourself from the emotions tied to your thoughts and evaluate their truth.
  3. Annul: Verbally denounce the negative thoughts and declare your truth.
  4. Activate: Speak God’s Word over your life through biblical affirmations and worship.
